Mission Statement The Coalition for Collaboration on HIV/AIDS Research and Intervention in Middle Georgia (CCHR) will function as a network-based coalition with the primary goal of connecting HIV/AIDS researchers and interventionists in the Middle Georgia region for mutual support and impact.
Goals and Objectives
Connect all scholars, researchers, interventionists, activists, organization’s doing HIV/AIDS related work in the Middle Georgia area
Share and disseminate information on HIV/AIDS related research, intervention and events through the network
Foster research networking and collaboration within and outside the network
Support action in the area of HIV/AIDS prevention and intervention in the region
Provide consultation and technical assistance for HIV/AIDS education, research and intervention within Middle Georgia and beyond
Encourage, inspire and support members to continue the fight against HIV/AIDS
Why do we need a Coalition?
The state of Georgia ranks second in the nation in new rates of HIV diagnosis
HIV/AIDS rates in Georgia have increased steadily in the last three years
Middle Georgia reports high rates of new HIV/AIDS diagnosis
Very minimal research on the infectious epidemiology of the infection is conducted in the region
Very minimal research on the social epidemiology of the infection is conducted in the region
Most of the critical HIV/AIDS risk factors are widespread in our region
The futures of entire families, communities and the well-being of the entire state is at stake
HIV/AIDS education and prevention programs in the area are insufficient to meet existing need
We are bypassed by opportunities to collaborate on federal and state funded research studies
Researchers, scholars and teachers need support and encouragement
